Pitch decks and animations for the leading VR games developer

Design for the VR games leader, nDreams, creating a series of pitch decks for multi-million pound deals, and social media assets to promote upcoming game releases

About nDreams

nDreams are a virtual reality games publisher and developer based in Farnborough, UK, who been at the forefront of innovative gaming since 2006. VR is the heart of everything they do. Across all headsets, their games are designed from the ground up around their five key tenets, delivering boundary-pushing immersion and presence like nothing you have experienced before.

The Challenge

In our initial remit, we partnered with the nDreams team on a month-long contract to design their corporate overview deck from the ground up. This was so successful that it lead to us designing decks for their 3rd party publishing arm and their VR industry overview.

Once the decks were completed, the team extended our enterprise contract for another month so that I could help them with designs and animations to promote their roster of upcoming games releases.

The Solution

Starting with the corporate overview deck, I held sessions with some of the key stakeholders to ascertain the tone, feel and overall structure that the document would require. From there I was able to create a design system which I would go on to use in the other decks to maintain consistency.

However, whilst both the corporate and the VR industry decks were intended for the same audience of multinational games publishers, the 3rd party publishing deck was aimed at independent game makers who were looking to be published by a company they felt they could trust and who had the capabilities to meet their needs.

Large gaming powerhouses such as Sony, have completely different branding and design styles than those of the very small independents, so this lead to two differing design styles that utilised the same design system.

Whilst not a first for me, it was definitely challenging, but well worth the results as the client was over the moon, and lead us to a contract extension.

The results

In the second phase with nDreams, we mainly focused on campaigns promoting the forthcoming releases. In FY 2022/23 they planned on releasing 6 games, which is a first in the VR gaming industry.

Two of those games (Fracked and Little Cities), needed no introduction to the nDreams faithful as they were re-releases for different VR platforms. The other four games were all new, and whilst we weren’t allowed to know the identity of releases five and six, releases three and four were the primary focus of our campaigns.

The release of Sushi Ben and Ghostbusters as VR games, was as big as it gets for nDreams, and as such they wanted the promotion to be equally as impressive.

We created a series of animated banners for various social media platforms, that revealed the first four games, whilst keeping the identities of games five and six hidden.
The banners were released on the same day that Sony released their promotional campaign for Ghostbusters VR, and our banners had a much higher engagement rate.
